Sharp Island is located in Port Shelter in Sai Kung and is zoned as Kiu Tsui Country Park. There is an islet called Kiu Tau on the western shore of Sharp Island and it is linked to Sharp Island by a tombolo only at low tide. The area around the tombolo is shallow, making it a suitable site for carrying out field survey during low tide. At least 70% hard coral coverage was recorded in Sharp Island east and north in 2014, according to AFCD Hong Kong Reef Check.
