Ngau Ngak Shan

生境 Habitats

Site Description

Ngau Ngak Shan, with a height of 677 metres, is one of the two peaks of Ma On Shan. Due to its steep and dangerous terrain, the area receives very little human disturbances and the vegetation is intact and plant diversity is very high. In fact, the ridges of Ngau Ngak Shan and Tiu Shau Ngam next to it are the only places in Hong Kong where one can see all of Hong Kong's native Rhododendrons.

Whether climbing the mountain or the stream (which are very steep), part of the journey requires climbing with ropes attached to the rocks. Hence, the path is only for experienced hikers.
