Mount Parker

生境 Habitats

Site Description

With a height of 532 metres, Mount Parker is the highest peak in Eastern District. As its sides are steep, there are fewer large development projects and thus woodlands are still abundant. During WWII, part of the forests are destroyed, leading the govenment to carry out plantation projects. Many acacia trees and slash pines were planted. In addition, Hong Kong Camellia, a rare species, can be found. The Crapnell's camellia was also first discovered on Mount Parker as well.

Mount Parker Woodside Biodiversity Education Centre opened in 2012, which provides information about habitats in Hong Kong and displays several animals such as the Romer's Tree Frog and Hong Kong Warty Newts.
