赤徑位於西貢東，可以沿麥理浩徑第二段，經西灣及鹹田灣前往，中途有士多可供補給。赤徑另有碼頭，有街渡往返黃石碼頭及塔門。
赤徑景色宜人，並有泥灘、紅樹林、沙灘等不同生境。當中的紅樹林，包括有7種紅樹，例如木欖、老鼠簕、白骨壤、海漆。泥灘上可以發現彈塗魚、招潮蟹等生物。草地上亦常有野牛活動。
赤徑設有白普理青年旅舍，亦有露營營地。
Chek Keng is situated in Eastern Sai Kung. It can be reached through the Maclehose Trail Section 2, pass Sai Wan and Ham Tin Wan. Stores are available along the trail for replenishment. A pier is also established in Chek Keng, where there are kaito ferries to and from Wong Shek Pier and Tap Mun.
Chek Keng is known for its beautiful scenery. There are mudflats, mangroves and beaches. Among them are 7 types of mangroves including the Many-petaled Mangrove, Holy Mangrove, Grey Mangrove and Milky Mangrove. On the mudflats are mudskippers and Fiddler Crabs. You may also see cows on the grasslands.
The youth hostel Bradbury Hall and a camping site can be found in Chek Keng as well.
